If your life with your dogs is anything like mine, your gear can take a beating. My leashes are tossed in the back of a car, crammed in a backpack, dragged around the driveway -- all while my Stowaway is attached.
When we designed the Stowaway and selected and tested materials, we had high standards. I don't want to have to delicately handle anything that has to do with my dogs. It needed to withstand abrasion, mud, exposure to the sun, and anything else that dog adventures might bring.
And, importantly, I wanted to be able to scrub and wash my Stowaway when it inevitably got dirty. One of the best parts of the colorful fabric we chose for the Stowaway (Cordura nylon), is that in addition to being water resistant, it is highly abrasion resistant. So when your dog drags a leash through the mud or on the driveway, your Stowaway will be just fine.
HOW TO CLEAN YOUR STOWAWAY
I like to use an old toothbrush to really get in those fibers to get any dirt out. You could even just use your fingers. Use a small pea-sized amount of detergent (dish soap is fine, or laundry detergent), rub it into the Stowaway and scrub as needed.
If you have a tough stain, use a stain remover like Oxi Clean. Thoroughly rinse your Stowaway, and then air dry.
Sometimes, depending on the color of the fabric, it can appear a little bit translucent when it's wet, and give the illusion that it's still dirty because you may be seeing dark black threads from the inside through the fabric. Just let it air dry and you'll notice that this goes away.
